Arman FC played hard until the final whistle but went down 4–2 to Omar Zawak on Tuesday in a hard-fought Afghanistan Champions League Season 6 encounter in Kabul.
After a relatively quiet opening period, the match came alive in the second half, with both sides finding more space and the intensity rising sharply during the final 20 minutes.
At half-time Arman was down 0-1 to Omar but continued to push forward and showed the same fighting spirit that earned them their first victory of the campaign just two days earlier.
Things took a turn in the second half when Omar Ceela scored, following a free kick in the 84th minute. Esmatullah Hadafmand then scored the team’s second goal in the final minute of extra time.
The Kabul side had gone into Tuesday’s match on the back of a 2–1 victory over Khurasan FC on September 20, a result that followed defeats against Ariana Khost and Sorkh Poshan Khafi.
Against Khurasan, Arman produced a determined comeback to secure their first three points of the season.
Their Season 6 campaign began with a 3–1 defeat to Ariana Khost, despite Macdonald Ngwa Niba bringing Arman level at 1–1 before halftime. Two second-half goals ultimately decided that match.
Arman then faced Sorkh Poshan Khafi on September 18, losing 2–0 before responding strongly against Khurasan two days later.
Omar Zawak arrived in the match with an unbeaten record, having defeated Khurasan FC 2–0 and Sarsabz Yashlar 3–1 before drawing 1–1 with Aino Mina.
Arman continued to compete despite the difficult circumstances and were handed an opportunity to capitalise when Omar Zawak’s goalkeeper was shown a red card.
However, Omar Zawak held on to claim all three points, with Arman unable to complete another comeback.
The result leaves Arman with three points from four matches as they continue their Season 6 campaign. Their next challenge comes against Aino Mina FC on September 25.
With a long league campaign still ahead, Arman FC will now look to regroup and build on the resilience they have shown across their opening matches
